Capcom removed Denuvo from the PC version of the RE4 remake

On 3 February 2026 Capcom removed Denuvo from the PC version of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Nearly three years had passed since the 2023 launch, and the game had picked up several updates, including the Separate Ways campaign about Ada Wong.

The executable shrank by 422 megabytes. The protection that had shipped with the PC release was no longer listed the way owners had been used to seeing it.

Capcom did not publish a separate explanation. The patch landed in the last weeks before Resident Evil Requiem, so some players read it as a gesture toward people coming back to Leon ahead of the new entry.
