Mike Ybarra does not see why the studio apologized for AI
Former Blizzard president and former Microsoft executive Mike Ybarra answered Pearl Abyss’s apology. The studio had admitted that early elements made with a generative tool accidentally reached the public build, and it promised an internal check. Ybarra writes that there was no need to justify it: such tools, in his view, will become an ordinary part of games and other digital products.
The reaction split. Some readers point out that developers and players are precisely against wide generative AI in production. Ybarra does not give figures or a replacement date.
The note places the argument next to talks about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, EA Sports FC 26 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, where the same question had already come up. This is a comment on the apology, not a new Pearl Abyss statement.
