On PS5 Pro, quality mode gained PSSR and sometimes falls to 25 frames
A new Crimson Desert patch for PS5 Pro turns PSSR on in quality mode. Grass and trees are sharper, and roughness is lower. In balanced mode, upscaling from 1440p, some of the softness is gone. On Reddit people write that quality moved closer to a strong PC. Before the patch, quality ran at 4K and 30 without upscaling, and performance doubled the rate by stretching 1080p to 4K. DF had called performance the sharper of the two.
The cost is sharpness that sometimes looks unnatural, and 30 frames can drop to 25. On a console tuned for graphics load, PSSR costs performance.
Digital Foundry records both the image gain and the drop. The patch does not assign the player a choice.
