CD Projekt called the Switch 2 port one of its hardest
Artur Köppen, senior launch manager at CD Projekt Red, told RPG Site what the year of expanding Cyberpunk 2077 looked like: a Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup, a native macOS version, a PS5 Pro upgrade, and shared saves.
He called the Switch 2 release one of the studio's most complex and daring projects, and its first time on a new platform at launch. A full cartridge, rather than a card with a download code, was a matter of principle. Nintendo backed it. Gyro controls were built and tested for the console separately. Köppen would not comment on rumors of a limited console or a themed gamepad.
He described the Mac version as joint work with Apple, far from mobile apps. The For This Mac graphics setting grew out of it. The PS5 Pro update, which few owners expected, also shipped.
Exact timing of individual steps trails off in the interview, but the tone is consistent: moving the whole RPG onto new hardware cost more than the box suggests.
