Rumor: WayForward was making an Edgerunners beat-'em-up called Project Gemini

MP1st, citing a former WayForward developer's portfolio, writes about a joint project with CD Projekt Red under the code Project Gemini. It is not the RPG sequel and not The Witcher. The claim is a fast 2.5D brawler based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, close to co-op beat-'em-ups such as River City Girls and to Trigger's drawing.

The engine, by this account, included network play, most likely co-op. In 2025 and 2026 the work was at prototype stage, with a playable demo on Unreal Engine 5. Last autumn WayForward hit a pause in outside funding and layoffs. How that hit Gemini is unknown.

There is no official announcement. A logical moment for one would be the start of the anime's second season. If the season lands, the studio could finish the project despite the contractor's trouble.

For now it is a trace in a portfolio, not a game on CD Projekt's calendar.
