Asmongold’s comments about E-Day split viewers again

On 2 October 2026 a clip spread from a stream by Zach “Asmongold” Hoyt about Gears of War: E-Day. He called the game a feminist fantasy and guessed that The Coalition would either shut down or lay off a large part of the staff. He went on to say shooters should not add women unless those characters are there mainly to appeal to male viewers.

Replies turned harsh quickly. Some viewers wrote that Hoyt was projecting his own insecurity onto men in general. On 4 October he answered live. His line was that critics only know how to insult, that video games are made for men, and that games built on a different assumption will fail. He also set a Stellar Blade heroine against a woman from E-Day and said a character does not have to be overtly attractive, but should not look the way the new shooter presents her.

The audience split again. Some called the remarks frank. Others called them toxic and dated.
