Canvastown stays a side project beside the main inZOI
On 13 September inZOI lead Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim described Canvastown. A normal session still looks down on a home. This mode stays with one Zoi and puts that person in a shared online place with other players.
You build the character and a house first, then enter a location called AR Company. About 50 people fit there at once, with NPCs beside them. Kim wants the players themselves to set roles and act out scenes. Script mods are meant to assemble short mini-games, car races included.
A calm launch is still a long way off. He called the current build rough and said a lot of work remains. Canvastown stays a side branch while that happens: people are not being pulled off the main inZOI tasks.
For him the point of the mode is a pause from an ordinary day. He held up Ready Player One as the kind of feeling he wants — step out of your own day for a while and live another life inside the inZOI world.
