The September patch for Mafia: The Old Country fixes progress, Free Ride, and rewards

On 1 September 2026 Hangar 13 released a patch for Mafia: The Old Country based on player reports. The studio thanked people for the feedback and said it will keep watching those reports.

Progress bugs and Free Ride failures are closed. Players should no longer get stuck when leaving Free Ride and returning to the story. Rewards for story missions, and for certain progress conditions, are granted again. Companions no longer block missions by refusing to perform a required action.

On the gameplay side, checkpoints and objective flow in Free Ride activities were corrected, and races in the free mode are more stable. Extra objects that appeared because of geometry errors were removed.

The journal was reworked in the interface: chapter descriptions and entries are easier to read at different stages of completion. Costumes, hats, and hairstyles unlocked earlier are available immediately in a new game. Times in Free Ride challenges display correctly, and interaction icons in story missions behave more cleanly. The same update includes general fixes for stability, AI behavior, and the overall quality of a playthrough.
