Bayonetta opens year two of CrossWorlds as a free character

On 16 September 2026 Sega showed Bayonetta in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The Umbra Witch was named the first free racer of the second year of support.

She comes with the Witch Butterfly vehicle, plus emotes and sound effects of her own. All of that sits in a free update, not in a paid pack.

The same footage returned to the already announced Godzilla and Evangelion packs. The first has the Godzilla Escape course and three vehicles: the Godzilla Cruiser, the King Ghidorah Coupe, and the Mothra Surf. The Evangelion set has the Tokyo-III course, the EVA-01 Test Type, the EVA-00 Prototype, and the EVA-02 Production Model, plus Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley as racers.

The studio planned to open the rest of year two on 9 October, during the world-championship final stream and a separate presentation. By September the racer was on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
