A browser demo recreates Marvel's Spider-Man web-swinging

An enthusiast nicknamed Shikhar has shown a project called Spiderbench. Using Anthropic's Opus 5.5 language model, generative tools, and the Three.js library (WebGL2), he built a basic playable slice in the style of Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, and it runs in a browser window.

The piece is a test of how far current neural nets can carry a 3D interactive world. Algorithms produced the code, shaders, geometry, and assets, while a person set the direction with text prompts and references. The build already has third-person web-swinging, wall-running up skyscrapers, jumps from bars, dives, and forward dashes, on a custom physics engine.

The open world is procedural and is laid out from Manhattan and its neighborhoods. Newer builds add a black symbiote suit inspired by Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and tighter acrobatic animation.

He published the source and stressed that the demo is non-commercial research. He does not present himself as a game developer. He is looking at what current tools can produce, and says games are the most complete test of that.
