Pywel’s map is larger than Red Dead Redemption 2

Closing the first New Game+ Showcase, Pearl Abyss marketer Will Powers compared the Crimson Desert continent with other open worlds. He said Pywel is larger than Red Dead Redemption 2 and at least twice the playable landmass of Skyrim.

Scale is not the whole pitch. The studio wants places to react to the player: crafting and housing are still to be shown, and the Sky Islands and their puzzles remain only partly explained.

Powers confirmed that players can fight dragons, but not that a dragon can be killed. He also left open whether the giant mechanical dragon called the Golden Star counts. Crimson Desert launches on 19 March 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
