On sale, Cyberpunk passed Gears of War E-Day on Steam's chart
On Steam's global revenue chart, Cyberpunk 2077, released at the end of 2020, rose to third and passed The Coalition's Gears of War E-Day, which sat eighth during its launch window. The chart counts money, not boxes.
On sale the Polish RPG is about 18 dollars, 70 percent off. Microsoft's new shooter is a full 70. Beating it on revenue required a much larger print run of the older game. From day one, E-Day is also in Xbox Game Pass, which by itself cuts direct sales in Valve's store.
Cyberpunk's lead here is still not only about price. Behind it are years of support: the Edgerunners anime, patch 2.0, and Phantom Liberty, which keep the game in the purchase column.
A fresh high-budget release lost to a six-year-old RPG in the week of its own launch. On Steam's chart that is rare, but already a recognizable picture.
