The Witcher 3 remaster hit a Steam record of 137,724 players
Over the weekend after the remaster launched, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt reached 137,724 concurrent players on Steam. The previous record, 103,329, dated from the first season of the Netflix series, with Henry Cavill as Geralt.
The number is a weak stand-in for sales. The update was free for anyone who already owned the game, so most of the peak was returning owners. A discount was running those days, and some people were starting for the first time, but that was not what filled the servers.
On Steam's weekly bestseller chart at the time, the remaster sat in 26th place. The list did not show a sharp jump in sales.
