Neil Newbon: Crimson Desert has an almost frightening amount of choice
Neil Newbon, the actor of Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, called Crimson Desert genuinely stunning and said there are so many ways to act that you simply have to live with it. This is not a linear route: combat style and ways of exploring keep branching.
He talks about hundreds of hours in which new corners still turn up long after the start. Experiments with combat, ability chains and moves such as a tornado used as an attack come up as examples.
He describes that volume of choice as a border: it can be one of the most varied games of the generation and, at the same time, pressure, when choice stops feeling like pleasure. This is an actor’s impression, not the studio’s score.
