Analysts put Crimson Desert ahead of Starfield’s yearly PS5 sales

Starfield’s PlayStation 5 start was estimated at about 140,000 copies in the first week. For an RPG of that size it is modest next to Bethesda’s past releases. Part of the audience had already played through Game Pass, and there were technical complaints at launch.

Crimson Desert is already at several million in a short time and is holding interest. At that pace, analysts allow that by the end of the year total sales could pass Starfield.

The comparison in the note is also qualitative: Starfield, they write, did not move the genre, while Crimson Desert uses newer mechanics. This is an analyst estimate, not a Bethesda or Pearl Abyss report.
