The Switch 2 remake ports hold 60 frames, and only the fourth has gyro aim
Two days before the 16 October 2026 release, the first reviews arrived for the Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition remakes on Switch 2. The trilogy's early Metacritic average is 90 out of 100. Nintendo World Report gave the second game 9.5 out of 10. All three run locally, with no cloud streaming.
On the RE Engine, docked, reviewers are seeing a steady 60 frames. In heavy scenes native resolution is about 576p, scaled to 1080p. Handheld frame rates stay stable too, with occasional texture pop-in and simpler animations on distant enemies. Nintendo Everything suggests turning HDR off in handheld: the Switch 2 LCD looks too dark, so SDR is the better picture on the move.
Gyro aiming at launch exists only in the fourth game's Gold Edition, which means Leon's campaign, Separate Ways, and The Mercenaries. The second and third remakes are stick-only for now, and the press expects a gyro patch. The eShop release is 16 October 2026. Cartridges follow on 29 January 2027.
The fourth game's set includes Separate Ways, Ada's story, and The Mercenaries. The second has the Deluxe costumes and a retro soundtrack. The third is Jill's escape. With Requiem, Resident Evil 7, and Village from the Generation Pack already on the console, Switch 2 now holds the modern run of the series.
