Hardware Unboxed praises optimization and faults nearby textures
Hardware Unboxed looked at the PC version of Crimson Desert on BlackSpace, not Unreal Engine 5. On stability they place it next to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: a wide range of machines and almost no stutter.
At a high draw distance, nearby objects sit on low textures. There is noise, weak geometry and obvious pop-in. The game uses relatively little video memory, which the authors read as aggressive compression. A full set of 4K textures, in their view, is missing. Radeon cards, despite the AMD partnership, land below Nvidia in several tests. At native 4K on maximum, even top cards do not always hold 60 without DLSS or FSR.
The channel’s conclusion: optimization is strong, and the image is not yet a technical lead over Unreal Engine 5.
