Historians look at Sengoku daily life in the Shadows world

On 25 August a breakdown looked at how Assassin's Creed Shadows presents Sengoku Japan. Historians Matt Lewis and Dr. Kate Kitagawa went through the conditions people lived under, between clan wars, betrayals, and changing rulers.

While peasants worked the fields and merchants kept trade moving, samurai built the day around the sword and discipline. That split in daily work is the social contrast the studio put into the open world: not only how a place looks, but civilian routine beside the warrior order.

The project authors say those details exist so a player meets the past in the settlements instead of reading it as a caption. For them Shadows is a setting that makes the motives of Naoe, Yasuke, and the people around them easier to read, rather than a backdrop alone.
