Assassin's Creed Shadows adds the Domains mode
On 15 June Ubisoft outlined the last big update for Assassin's Creed Shadows and set it for 16 June. The new system is Domains: Animus trials that test a build and how you play Naoe and Yasuke.
Associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois described the mode as corrupted Animus data inside the Shadows world. There are five maps, and repeat runs shuffle modifiers so the rules change. Clear a run of enemies and an arena opens against one of three Animus-corrupted bosses. Higher difficulty stacks more modifiers at once. Some help. Some bind you hard.
Animus Tricks take a little of the edge off. The studio still says they will not carry a build that does not fit the modifier set. Gear and progress from the main game come in. Weapons and equipment that exist only as trial rewards go back out to the campaign.
A character named MOD, a hacker who bends the system, is why the trials exist. The thread sits beside the story of Naoe and Yasuke. It does not replace it. Each map has its own temper. White Mist, for example, cuts sight and borrows the feel of a winter storm. As you push on, the weather can ease and the pressure can drop. The update is free.
