Paramount is preparing a live-action film in the Cyberpunk 2077 world

Paramount Pictures has started early work on a feature film based on Cyberpunk 2077. It is the first large live-action adaptation of the universe. The setting is Night City in 2077.

The producer is Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for the Transformers films, Constantine, and 1408. There is no plot, cast, or schedule. It is unknown whether the story will be about V or about other people in the same city. CD Projekt Red is involved as a consultant. The studio already has experience with a separate story in this world: the Edgerunners anime.

In almost six years the game has sold more than 40 million copies. After the updates and Phantom Liberty, the franchise's reputation is strong enough that a film conversation has become practical.

It is still an early stage. The Paramount and CD Projekt pairing itself shows Night City being assembled as a media franchise, not only as an RPG.
