The Chapter 0 mod restores Ashley's night prologue

Resident Evil 4 Remake already reworked Ashley's escort stretches and added the chainsaw parry, and the crypt fight with armored enemies is one of the hardest stretches in her shoes. The files still held an earlier plan: the night before Leon arrives, with Ashley escaping her pursuers on her own.

The Chapter 0 mod turns that prologue into a playable insert. It sits after the opening cutscene and before chapter one. Ashley lights the way with her phone, sees cultists kill a stranger, and witnesses Luis being taken. Animations, camera angles, and the phone light come from the game files. The rest is built from assets that already shipped.

Capcom never finished the scene. The likely reasons are plain enough. It explains, too directly, things the game only implies, and it interrupts Leon's slow walk into the Ganado village. Luis and Ashley are already captives when the campaign starts.

Even in this form the mod is unusual. Cut remake material rarely leaves the files as something you can walk through, rather than a note in a dump.
