A cut Ada fight with the Black Robe was restored in Separate Ways

Keff0 found leftovers in the Separate Ways files of a fight with the Black Robe — Pesanta, also called U-3 — planned for chapter five of Ada's campaign. From what survived, he rebuilt a playable encounter: the layout, lighting, effects, music, and the closing cutscene.

The fight was set in the castle's outer courtyard after the garden, before Ada heads into the mines. The files include an intro in which Pesanta blocks the north door. There are three phases: behavior changes at 70% and 30% health, with its own stagger values.

In the released Separate Ways, Ada already crosses the Black Robe several times before the two-phase fight in the mines. The extra castle bout was likely cut so the boss would not wear out its welcome or break the pace. Capcom has not commented.

The mod is about 209 megabytes and rests on hidden data, not an invented enemy. For the remake it is another look at what was taken out of Ada's campaign before release.
