A free update 2.5 inspired by the season arrives on 22 October

On the day season two premiered on Netflix, CD Projekt Red announced a free Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.5 called the Edgerunners 2 Update. It contradicts earlier statements that active support for the game was over and that even a new anime season would not bring material into the RPG. The studio's main effort is still on the next Witcher and on the sequel.

The patch arrives on 22 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch 2 version comes a little later. Inside are items, weapons, and play features drawn from the season's characters and events.

On 21 October, a REDstreams broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam will show gameplay and the change list. The breakdown is promised the day before release, not on patch day.

For players who had only heard that support was closed, 2.5 became the day's news more than the episodes themselves.
