A CyberMP test gathered 66 people and hit the network

After CD Projekt Red dropped plans for an official multiplayer, online Cyberpunk 2077 stayed a fan project. The CyberMP team reported a semi-open test on 25 and 26 July 2026. About 100 people from Discord applications got in. The peak on one map was 66 players.

At that number the server fell apart. Play was comfortable at 30 to 40 connections. Telemetry helped find the traffic-handling errors, and the authors say that particular collapse is already fixed. A separate obstacle is Windows Defender, which deleted the client for lack of a digital signature. The team is looking for a way to buy one.

Part of the tooling is on GitHub: JavaScript types, the client-server RPC, and the Freeroam source. Other servers, including role-play ones, can be built on that base.

There is no release date. The project is early, with more closed and semi-open sessions ahead.
