Miyazaki says FromSoftware still chooses its own games

Hidetaka Miyazaki answered talk that Kadokawa's investors want more sequels and proven series instead of risky new games. The interview ran in Den Faminico Gamer.

He said he is satisfied with the studio's current conditions. The point of the remark is that the team can make the games it wants, without too much interference, and that keeping this environment matters most both to him and to FromSoftware as a whole.

He ties that freedom to why the studio's projects stand out from the rest of the industry. He also said the team will not abandon games it considers truly worth making.

After Elden Ring the studio has already shown it is not sitting only on the familiar formula. Elden Ring Nightreign has shipped, and The Duskbloods is still in the works, a different bet rather than a straight return to the Lands Between. Miyazaki's remarks are about how the studio is allowed to work, not an announcement of the next expansion.
