Tarnished Edition adds two classes and the region of Idus

FromSoftware gave more detail on Elden Ring Tarnished Edition ahead of the 28 August 2026 launch on Nintendo Switch 2. The same day, the new material becomes a paid add-on on PC and the other platforms.

The Heavy Knight is built for armor and close combat. The class starts at level 10, with a new curved greatsword and a set of heavy armor. After testing, the studio raised that starting level, and Faith and Mind along with it.

The Knight of Idus is meant to be more mobile. The start is level 7, with Milady, the light greatsword from Shadow of the Erdtree, plus new armor and a shield. It is offered as another popular way to begin, next to the Samurai.

The region of Idus is the larger claim. No such place existed in Elden Ring before. The studio hinted that the area expands the world, and that its history, as usual, will have to be assembled from item descriptions and equipment rather than from a long scene.
