The head of inZOI is glad for Crimson Desert and says Asia is still learning from the West

Hyunjun “Kjun” Kim, director of inZOI, said at a closed session in Krafton’s Seoul studio that a success like Crimson Desert makes him glad and helps him believe in large Korean games on the international market.

Western studios, in his view, are still stronger in the variety of ideas, and Asian teams are taking that on. He uses Crimson Desert’s history as the example: a prequel to Black Desert Online became a single-player game leaning on The Witcher 3 and Dragon’s Dogma 2. In Korea, he says, people are tired of same-shaped MMORPGs.

He ties the fast adoption of other people’s methods to the phrase ppalli-ppalli, doing everything as quickly as possible. Kim stresses that he speaks for himself, not for the whole Asian industry.
