Cosmic Companions opens a companion slot and chemistry benches in Abiotic Factor

By 5 May 2026 the free Cosmic Companions update for the co-op survival game Abiotic Factor was already out on PC and consoles. Deep Field Games had released version 1.3.0 the day before, on 4 May. The game itself was in the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog and on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Pets were rebuilt. Players tame them, feed them, and level them, and a separate companion slot holds a creature fitted with a collar: a hit that should have killed the partner leaves it downed inside the Cascade complex. Food grants the pet experience, and some anomalous meals change its variant.

Chemistry arrived in the Cascade labs. Scientists place a distillation bench and a chemistry bench. Materials brought back from expeditions yield fifteen kinds of distillations, and the chemistry bench turns those into tinctures, weapon coatings, and throwable flasks.

The same patch brought more than a hundred new items, fresh inventions, and a portal world that crosses over with Voices of the Void. Deep Field collected the change list in a Steam news post. The update trailer is on YouTube.
