Shadows sales: 74% digital in the US, discs lead in France

On 21 August a regional split circulated for how Assassin's Creed Shadows sold on disc and as a download. The shares differ enough that "digital won everywhere" does not fit the table.

In the US, digital copies are 74% and physical copies 26%. In Canada the split is 67% to 33% in digital's favor. In Japan the gap is thin: 52% digital and 48% disc. In the UK it is 55% to 45%, again toward digital. Australia sits a little closer to the shelf: 54% physical and 46% digital. In France discs lead, 58% against 42% digital.

For publishers who watch North America first, Shadows looks like an almost fully digital game. Europe and parts of Asia still buy the box in these same figures. The roundup also flags a risk for publishers if PlayStation really drops disc drives in January 2028. Single-player games on physical media are still selling there.

The regional table is in Genki's post.
