Sandfall will make the next game without chasing the hit
On 2 July 2026, on Video Game Club, Broche said he will not trace the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The studio will again make what it wants to play, even if that misses part of the audience.
That, he says, is how the first RPG landed: the team did not bend to the fashion. He allows sharp choices on the next project. Players can decide whether to follow the studio onward.
He is calm about money. Zero sales would of course hit the studio; he grants that as a joke. Living only to meet outside expectations, he says, just leans on the team.
The bar is still high. The Steam user score sits at the top of the scale, and after Baldur's Gate 3 the game took Game of the Year at five major ceremonies: The Game Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, the D.I.C.E. Awards, the GDC Awards and the BAFTA Games Awards.
