Asha Sharma congratulated The Coalition, and the replies argued over the scores

Xbox chief Asha Sharma congratulated The Coalition on the launch of Gears of War: E-Day and on the critic scores. She attached promo art with pull quotes and singled out a Day One review that called the game a masterpiece.

The replies changed tone quickly. Some people do not trust the high marks from IGN, Game Informer, and other outlets, and treat press praise as a reason to be wary. Others ask why the art leaves out the restrained and negative reviews, and point to the Steam player count.

Congratulations sit next to that. For some players it is enough that the series returned to its early tone. By autumn 2026, E-Day is already one of the most argued-over new releases.
