E-Day’s Steam peak passed 31,000 amid mixed user reviews
After the full release on 6 October, the Steam peak for Gears of War: E-Day rose to 31,517 people, according to trackers on 7 October. Premium Edition early access had run since 1 October, and the new high is well above that window.
The series record on the store before this was Gears 5, at 10,196. E-Day’s summer beta reached about 22,000. Xbox, the Xbox app on PC, and Game Pass are not in the count, even though the game is available there from day one.
Steam reviews sit at Mostly Positive, about 75% recommendations. Roughly half of the visible negative posts talk about politics: players object to the role of the new heroine, Mags Carter, and say she pushes Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago aside. Other complaints cover the campaign’s length and repetition, technical issues, and specific combat choices.
The prequel is Emergence Day, 14 years before the original: veterans of the Pendulum Wars meet the Locust for the first time. The online peak shows PC interest, but the argument over the story is already pulling the user score down.
