NoPixel V opens on 8 September for 439 invited players
Rockstar is sitting closer to the Grand Theft Auto V roleplay servers that started as a community project. In 2023 the company bought the makers of the tools behind that scene, and last September it announced a partnership with NoPixel, the largest roleplay server for the fifth game. The next step, NoPixel V, starts on 8 September.
The closed beta admits only 439 invited players, many of them familiar names from the roleplay crowd. The pitch is a larger rework of the Los Santos map and more room to build your own stories: a new character creator, a rebuilt Cypress Flats, the Pixel hotel and casino, more reactive pedestrians, a better picture and extra ways to earn "on both sides of the law."
The server is available directly through the Rockstar Games Launcher, which is itself a sign of how official the project is. From 8 through 30 September, people watching sessions on Twitch can win up to 1,500,000 GTA$ and a Burger Shot outfit for regular GTA Online.
The announcement landed a little more than two months before Grand Theft Auto VI on PS5 and Xbox Series X, set for 19 November. There is still no word on a new online mode. Rockstar has already said the sixth game is a single-player open-world adventure without microtransactions.
