Digital Deluxe owners argue over whether year two of CrossWorlds was already promised
On 13 October 2026 some owners of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds said the second year of paid packs should come to them at no extra charge. The dispute turns on wording for the Digital Deluxe Edition from before release: buyers were promised access to all future paid downloadable content. The open question is whether that sentence covers the new season pass.
Over the weekend before that date Sega showed the year-two plan and a permanent price cut. The base version drops from $70 to $40, and Digital Deluxe from $90 to $60. The second pass costs $29.99, holds six packs, and those packs can also be bought one by one.
The complaint points at a Sega post from June 2025, three months before launch. There the Digital Deluxe was described as the base game, a season pass, all future paid DLC, and characters from Sonic Prime. Some buyers read “future paid content” as separate from the first pass and take the promise as not stopping after year one. By 13 October Sega had not spelled that sentence out. A request for comment from VGC was still unanswered, so it was early to call a broken promise proven: the publisher had not yet said how much content that wording was meant to cover.
Year two starts on 3 November with the Godzilla pack, then Evangelion, Sanrio Puroland, Segaland, Final Fantasy VII, and Persona. Most of the packs fall in 2027, and some lineups are still incomplete. The free list still has Bayonetta, a McLaren Racing car with a Sonic skin, and Aigis from Persona 3 Reload. Owners of both passes are separately promised Super Shadow and the Super Dark Flare vehicle.
