STAR WARS: Galactic Racer sits at 88 on Metacritic
As of 1 October, STAR WARS: Galactic Racer averages 88 out of 100 on Metacritic across 46 reviews. Several outlets say arcade racing of this kind nearly vanished after Burnout, Need for Speed, and Midnight Club, and that this game brings it back.
Video Game Chronicles and IGN Deutschland both scored it 100. The German IGN compares the sense of speed to the original Wipeout and singles out the roguelike campaign as a rare case of sci-fi racing being reinvented, even if Star Wars is not your thing. GameSpot and PC Games scored it 90. GameSpot says every race is still a chance to learn. PC Games says the pods bring back what made Episode I: Racer feel special. Hardcore Gamer scored it 80 and praises the scenarios, the races, and the multiplayer. The most reserved score in the set is Respec at 70: some familiar modes are missing, the podracing section is not as fully built as it could be, and at times the game seems to get in the way of the fun its racing can deliver.
It is a successor to Episode I: Racer and the first new Star Wars racing game in more than twenty years. After the Empire falls, the pilot Shade goes after league champion Kestar Bool. Crash too often and you burn a league token and reset the run, though some upgrades carry forward. It launches on 6 October 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
