Digital Foundry: 30 frames on Switch 2 are realistic at a cost in density

After Pearl Abyss started research on a Switch 2 port, Digital Foundry estimated 30 frames as reachable, including through DLSS at a low internal resolution. The reference is Xbox Series S, the closest hardware: it already uses low models and textures, minimal reflections, simple shadows, weak water and advanced weather switched off.

For Switch 2 the resolution would probably have to drop further. DLSS would partly restore sharpness. The bottleneck is the CPU in crowds of NPCs: density or draw distance would have to be cut. The Witcher 3 was already squeezed that way on the first Switch.

Even a simplified version, the analysts think, could be attractive because of portable play. This is DF’s estimate, not the studio’s spec.
