Digital Foundry: PS5 Pro performance mode reaches 90 frames
Digital Foundry's first look praises the Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update for PSSR 2 and ray tracing. Ray Tracing Pro, for the first time on a console, turns on several RT effects at once: sun and local shadows, sky light and neon emission, and selective reflections.
On Pro, reflections mostly live on car glass and clear-coat bodywork. The street still uses cheaper screen-space reflections. In performance mode the game aims at 90 frames, and the PSSR 2 image is noticeably more stable than the old FSR.
In DF's view PSSR beats FSR 2.1 almost everywhere, especially on fine detail and moving objects. A manual switch between them remains in the patch, though the analysts see little practical use for FSR.
In dense Dogtown the frame rate can still fall because of the CPU. The patch also did not cure aggressive object pop-in at speed: that is built into the engine. For Pro owners, in DF's reading, the download is essential as of today.
