Polygon found swears in the dialogue from the wrong century
Polygon looked at the vocabulary of Crimson Desert, not the combat. In the first five minutes an insult appears that the article dates to the late nineteenth century, not to a medieval setting in the manner of The Witcher. Intensifiers that English speakers now use for emotion, in their reading, for centuries meant only the act itself. “Bastard” as an interjection and “freak” as a slur also arrive later.
Crude names for body parts in medieval English, they write, lived in bawdy jokes, not in the taboo the script treats them as. The only exact hit they name, with irony, is a phrase about a stinking turd, known from the thirteenth century in the same sense.
The writer’s conclusion is that if the authors do not care what is written, he has no reason to care about the game. This is a complaint about the text, not about the frame rate.
