On a base PS5, Digital Foundry suggests balanced mode at 60 Hz
Digital Foundry looked at Crimson Desert on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. On the base console, six years old this year, almost every mode has a caveat. Performance is native Full HD, 60 frames do not hold and often fall toward 45. A patch that forces 4K through FSR 3 drops the rate so far that play is uncomfortable. Quality upscales 4K from 1440p, and even 30 frames are not stable.
The recommendation for base and Slim is balanced: native 1280p and a stable 30, if the screen refresh is locked at 60.
On Pro the quality mode is the worst visually and soft. Performance, from 1080p to 4K through PSSR, is sharper. DF still picks balanced: with VRR and no cap the rate is 50–60 and the image is better than performance mode.
