Players stuck on a boss are told to stock up on food
In a conversation with the channel Gaming illuminaughty, Will Powers explained how Crimson Desert does without a difficulty slider. The studio does not call it a soulslike or an RPG, but the challenge is fixed: enemies cannot be weakened or strengthened in a menu. Zones do not scale, so the practical answer to the wrong area is to leave.
If blocking and parrying are not enough, the backup is food and healing. Powers described that as a reward for time spent preparing, down to a joke about eating 99 potatoes. There is no experience system to outlevel a boss, so crafting and supplies are the counterweight.
The studio leaves both routes: learn the fight, or arrive stocked. He said the choice is the player’s, and over-preparing does not mean the fight stops being hard.
