Ray reconstruction on PC changes the light, and consoles do not have it

Digital Foundry writes that ray tracing in Crimson Desert is the base of the image, but for speed it is computed at low quality and cleaned with a light filter. Without reconstruction the light is flat, shadows are scarce and grass looks unlit. That, in the analysis, is how the game looks on consoles.

Turning on Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction or AMD’s FSR Ray Regeneration changes the frame more than a normal toggle. On an RTX 5080 reconstruction costs about 14 percent of performance. On an RX 9070 XT regeneration costs about 24.

AMD sometimes blurs individual elements. On Nvidia, a pre-release build broke surface textures and the rain vanished. Pearl Abyss knows about those bugs, and a patch is expected. DF calls the mode an ultra lighting setting that no console has.
