Will Powers: patches are written from feedback, without a rigid map
Pearl Abyss representative Will Powers explained Crimson Desert’s pace by saying the studio does not keep a rigid plan and takes ideas from outside. He ties enemy factions recapturing forts, and rematches with bosses, to community requests.
Patches and content, he says, are revised in real time from how players react. A roadmap, he says, is a set of guesses about what people want, and the studio does not make those guesses. Someone else’s idea is not thrown out only because it did not start inside the team.
He adds that the team is ready to turn player finds into mechanics. The line about an “indie publisher with an AAA-scale game” in the note is his frame, not a new company status.
