Praydog added path tracing to the RE2, RE3, and RE4 remakes

REFramework's author, praydog, released a build that turns on path tracing in the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4. The tool already offered a free camera and utility settings. This adds a heavier lighting mode.

In the second game the change is clearest in shadows and reflections: objects that cast nothing before start casting shadows. In the third, comparisons can look worse than the original image, with shadows missing in some scenes, and the author has not promised a fix.

In the fourth remake the shots disagree. New reflections help some village and stone scenes, and white specks show up on textures in others. People who tried the mode say it is not a finished replacement for the built-in lighting.

It is an experiment on top of three RE Engine games, not a Capcom patch. For the Leon remake it is a preview of path tracing, which the studio itself has not shipped at that level.
