Patch 1.17 unlocks classes, Torrent looks, and two invasions

On 28 August Elden Ring receives a large update, patch 1.17. According to the Bandai Namco notes, the patch exists so the game can take the Tarnished Pack on Friday, 28 August 2026, and it also adjusts balance.

After the pack is purchased — and on Switch 2 it is already inside Tarnished Edition — character creation gains the Knight of Idus and the Heavy Knight. The new weapons can be bought from merchants or found in the Lands Between.

Torrent gets three extra looks. The Tree Sentinel spectral steed is found at Stormveil Castle. The Carian silver spectral steed is in Liurnia of the Lakes. The Funeral Night spectral steed is on the Altus Plateau.

Added to that are an NPC invasion in Caelid and another in Leyndell, the Royal Capital. On Switch 2 the same set is not a separate purchase: it is part of the edition by default.
