The Mac build of Cyberpunk ran locally on an iPhone 17 Pro Max
Reddit user Thisisyouracc0un-t showed Cyberpunk 2077 running directly on an iPhone 17 Pro Max. It is not a stream from a computer and not the cloud. It uses the native 2025 Mac build for Apple Silicon and Metal, so there is no live translation from x86 to ARM. A compatibility layer adapts macOS system calls — files, input, libraries — to iOS.
By the author's account, the game runs around 900p on a mix of medium and high settings with MetalFX, and without JIT, because the code is already built for Apple's architecture. Repeating it would require the Mac version's files and a sideloaded app. The layer itself is not public, so someone else's phone cannot reproduce the experiment. After install, neither a Mac nor a constant network is required.
For scale, Nintendo Switch 2 aims at 30 frames in quality mode and up to 40 in performance, with the latter targeting 720p in handheld. The iPhone prototype, judging by the video, uses higher settings and sits a little above 30 frames. A direct comparison is early: the console uses DLSS, the phone uses MetalFX, and the stated resolution is not the internal one.
It is a demonstration of a local launch, not a store version for iOS.
