The Silksoul mod wants Silksong’s 2021 map and cut enemies back

On 13 July 2026, the authors of the fan expansion Hollow Knight: Silksoul released an interview about the work. They are rebuilding places and enemies that Team Cherry changed or removed entirely on the way to the official sequel.

It began as a narrow job: restore the Weavenest area as it stood in 2021 and pair it with the Pharlooms Glory mod. The goal then grew to the whole map from that year. The restore list includes Red Coral Gorge, Clover Grove, also known as Verdania, and the dark region Gloom.

Jcera says Silksong’s source is easier to mod than the first game, though Unity’s Addressables system still makes the work harder. The map’s base comes from reconstructions by MTCube. The Pasta Modding team grew from one person to twelve: programmers, artists, and composers.

Gloom, cut by Team Cherry late in 2021, is meant to be expanded from early sketches by lead artist Ari Gibson, including frightening enemies such as zombies in a diving bell. The caravan spider Caravantula cannot be brought over: its behavior conflicts with the Bell Beast, so some of that dialogue will go to other inhabitants. Recruitment is closed so the group can sort what it already has, and a Patreon page is open. There is no release date. The team asks people not to expect the mod soon and estimates it closer to a third official expansion for the original game.
