Update 42.3 adds the RPD, custom crosshairs, and community modes

PC servers for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS went down for update 42.3 on 12 August 2026, with maintenance from 03:00 to 11:30 Moscow time. Consoles were patched separately on 20 August, from 04:00 to 12:00. The full list is in the update 42.3 notes.

The first meta-rotation season focuses on light machine guns. Krafton plans to spotlight a different weapon class about every four months. LMG reloads are about 25% shorter, and peak recoil is cut by about 30%. The new gun is the RPD, the first machine gun added in nearly two years. It fires 7.62mm, deals 43 damage, and runs at 735 m/s and 750 rounds per minute. The 50-round box can grow to 110, sights go up to 6x, and it takes no grip or stock. It spawns on every map.

Shooting from a vehicle is stricter: you can fire only after leaning fully out of the window. The spread penalty climbs from 10% to 20% at high speed, and the recoil penalty from 20% to 30%. Console recoil while firing from a vehicle was left unchanged.

On PC, PUBG: Playgrounds matchmakes community-made modes. Settings now include a custom crosshair — color, lines, center dot, and outline — for a general preset, shotguns, pistols, or throwables. A share code sends that setup to someone else, and an unused code expires after 90 days. The patch also brings the Summer Vacation survivor pass. During maintenance, PC players can open the POBG minigame; its records stay on the computer, not on the account.
