Two ways of running Shadows differed by 2 FPS in a test
On 18 July a player compared two builds of Assassin's Creed Shadows in which Denuvo is bypassed in different ways: a hypervisor build and a conventional offline build. The question was practical. Does the extra virtualization eat frames?
The machine was a Ryzen 5 5600G. Resolution was kept deliberately low and the preset was Ultra Low, so the limit would be the processor rather than the graphics card. Memory Integrity and VBS were off. The PC was not rebooted between runs, and the conditions stayed matched.
The hypervisor build averaged about 2 frames higher. The 1% low figure matched. Peak frame rate was 130 FPS against 116 on the other build. The author says the gap is invisible in normal play. An extra virtualization layer ought to cost performance. On this run it barely did.
It is one player measurement, not a studio lab test. It argues with the usual view that a hypervisor launch always cuts FPS hard.
