Broche says a spotless game loses its face
On 4 July 2026, talking with Konbini, Broche said that chasing a game with no flaw often washes the character out. He remembers cult games for their rough edges.
He uses the first Devil May Cry as the example. Trish’s plot line and Dante’s deliberately grandiose lines look odd, and that oddness is the charm. He compares a game to a person: small strangeness is what assembles a personality.
He is just as direct about Expedition 33. Minigames that are too hard, a third act where characters can be overfed with power, and content that is easy to miss were left in. Those gaps, he says, are what keep the game’s own tone.
